BBC Investigation into Giovanni Pernice Amidst New Allegations

The BBC is set to release the findings of its investigation into professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, following fresh allegations regarding his conduct with celebrity partners on the popular show Strictly Come Dancing. Laura Whitmore, a TV presenter who partnered with Pernice in 2016, has come forward with claims of “inappropriate behaviour” during her time on the show, stating she raised concerns about his conduct eight years ago. Whitmore revealed that she felt “broken” by her experiences and has since learned that others have faced similar issues with Pernice. In her statement, Whitmore emphasized the importance of being heard, lamenting that it took such allegations for her voice to be acknowledged. She has provided evidence to support the BBC's investigation, highlighting the need to end victim-blaming to foster a safer environment for all participants. The BBC is also expected to address allegations made by actress Amanda Abbington, who described Pernice's behaviour as “abusive, cruel and mean” during their partnership last year. Abbington shared her experience in an interview with Channel 4 News, revealing that producers were “shocked and horrified” by footage of her rehearsals with Pernice. She noted that a significant amount of rehearsal footage had been blocked by the BBC, raising questions about transparency in the investigation. Pernice has since left the show, alongside fellow dancer Graziano Di Prima, who admitted to kicking his partner during rehearsals. Pernice remains confident in his ability to clear his name as the investigation unfolds.
