Authorities in Redwood City apprehended a parolee suspected of committing several violent assaults on Wednesday morning. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office reported that between 7:30 and 8 a.m., police responded to two separate incidents involving unprovoked attacks on individuals in the city. The first incident occurred in the parking lot of a Grocery Outlet, where a 78-year-old man was assaulted. Shortly after, a woman was attacked as she arrived at her workplace at the Hall of Justice. Following these assaults, deputies collaborated with Redwood City police to identify the suspect. By 5 p.m., they were alerted to a third assault involving a county employee in the nearby community of North Fair Oaks. In response, law enforcement saturated the area and successfully located the suspect on the 2600 block of Middlefield Road. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Miguel Angel Landa, was arrested without incident. Landa, a Redwood City resident, has a significant criminal history and was reportedly on parole for a previous felony assault. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the Redwood City Police Department for further investigation into the morning's assaults. Landa has been booked at the Maguire Correctional Facility on multiple charges, including assault, battery, elder abuse, and a parole violation, as authorities continue to address the violent incidents that disrupted the community.
