A collection of over a dozen handwritten cards and letters from Princess Diana to her family's former housekeeper, Violet Collison, is set to be auctioned. Collison, affectionately known as "Collie" by the Princess of Wales, served as the head housekeeper for Diana's parents at Park House on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, where Diana spent her formative years. The letters primarily consist of thank-you notes for birthday and Christmas gifts sent to Diana and her children, Prince William and Prince Harry. One notable letter, dated September 25, 1984, and written from Kensington Palace, expresses Diana's gratitude for a gift to Harry. In the letter, she fondly describes the bond between her sons, stating, "William adores his little brother and spends the entire time pouring an endless supply of hugs and kisses over Harry." Another significant piece is a double-sided letter penned on Buckingham Palace notepaper, sent just weeks before Diana's wedding, where she shares insights about the wedding preparations. Collison dedicated her career to serving Diana's parents until her retirement in 1973. She passed away in 2013 at the age of 89. The auction, organized by Sworders, will take place on July 30 in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, offering collectors and royal enthusiasts a rare glimpse into the personal correspondence of the beloved princess.
