Watchmaking couple in Denmark plans future with new workshop

Christian and Hannelore Lass, a watchmaking couple, relocated from Switzerland to the west coast of Fyn, Denmark, in 2018. They established their own watch brand, Christian Lass, in a spacious and affordable environment, allowing them to utilize their extensive watchmaking expertise. Previously, Hannelore worked as an engraver for Olivier Vaucher, while Christian was a master watchmaker at the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva. Their journey began when they met in 2006 at Vianney Halter's workshop. In 2020, the couple launched their first model, the 30CP, which quickly sold out, prompting them to make operational changes. To accommodate their growing business, they moved their workshop from their home to a factory that previously produced equipment for laser machines. This transition has enabled them to focus on their craft in a quieter setting, away from the bustling Swiss watch industry. The couple's decision to leave Switzerland has been viewed positively by industry peers, who believe that being distanced from the traditional watchmaking hub can foster creativity and innovation. The Lasses have embraced their new life in Denmark, where they can balance family life with their passion for watchmaking. As they continue to fill orders for their first timepiece, the Lasses are looking ahead to future projects and potential new models.
