- The incident took place at the Russian prison IK-19 Surovikino.
- The uprising resulted in a total of 8 fatalities.
In a violent uprising at the IK-19 Surovikino prison in Russia's Volgograd region, eight individuals were killed during an attempted revolt by ISIS prisoners on Friday. The Federal Prison Service (FSIN) reported that four terrorists took four inmates and eight prison guards hostage, fatally stabbing four guards in the process. The situation escalated until special forces intervened, with snipers reportedly neutralizing the attackers with precise shots. Videos emerging from the scene depicted the assailants, armed with knives, pacing in the prison yard while their victims lay in pools of blood. Some of the attackers claimed their actions were in retaliation for the persecution of Muslims. The revolt reportedly began during a disciplinary commission meeting, and local reports suggest that the prison's director and deputy director were among those taken hostage. The deceased assailants were identified as Ramzidin Toshev, Rustamchon Navruzi, Nazirchon Toshov, and Temur Khusinov, all hailing from former Soviet Central Asian countries. The FSIN clarified that the attackers did not gain control of the entire facility, stating they occupied only a single room. This incident marks the second uprising involving ISIS prisoners in recent months, following a similar event in the Rostov region where six prisoners took two guards hostage, resulting in five deaths. IK-19 Surovikino is classified as a high-security penal colony, housing approximately 1,200 inmates.
