Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh – Congress MLA Arif Masood has raised concerns over recent demolition actions taken by the district administration and police in Chhatarpur, which he claims violate the principles of justice. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Masood highlighted that the demolitions occurred on August 22, a day after a stone-pelting incident at a local police station, targeting properties linked to key suspects without prior notice. Masood described the demolitions as a blatant disregard for constitutional rights, stating that the police and local administration acted in collusion to bulldoze homes and vehicles. He emphasized that such actions undermine public trust in the legal system, asserting that due process should be followed when addressing criminal behavior. The MLA called for accountability, urging the Chief Minister to take strict action against the officials involved in the demolitions. In his remarks to ANI, Masood pointed out that many affected properties had valid permissions and even loans associated with them. He questioned the fairness of the demolitions, suggesting that the government should investigate other properties in the district for compliance with regulations. He expressed his intention to seek legal recourse through the High Court and Supreme Court if necessary. Masood concluded by advocating for a more measured approach to law enforcement, suggesting that authorities should focus on identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the initial disturbances rather than punishing innocent residents.
