Story

Leicester City has finalized a deal to acquire midfielder Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee exceeding £20 million. The 23-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical examination today, marking a significant step in his transition to the Premier League club. Both Leicester and Tottenham view the agreement as beneficial, with Skipp looking to secure more playing time after a season where he primarily served as a substitute under manager Ange Postecoglou. Skipp, a product of Tottenham's academy, has made a total of 106 appearances for the club since breaking into the first team in 2018. Last season, he featured in 24 matches across all competitions but found himself on the bench for much of the campaign. His contract with Spurs runs until 2027, and he previously spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Norwich City, where he made 47 appearances. The transfer comes as Tottenham bolsters its midfield with the addition of Archie Gray from Leeds, while Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg has moved to Marseille. Meanwhile, Leicester has faced its own challenges, losing midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea as they prepare for their return to the Premier League. Should the transfer be completed, Skipp will reunite with fellow Spurs academy graduate Harry Winks in Leicester's midfield. The two teams are set to clash on Monday in their opening match of the Premier League season.
