Recently released footage has shed light on the events leading up to the fatal shooting of 18-year-old unarmed teenager, who was celebrating his high school graduation in Los Angeles with friends. According to the family’s attorney, Christopher Dolan, the incident began when Ramirez and his friends were involved in a dispute with another driver, which the undercover officers initially misinterpreted as a potential road rage incident. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released security camera footage showing at least three individuals exiting a silver Cadillac and approaching another vehicle. The officers, believing that Ramirez and his friends were wearing ski masks, began to follow the Cadillac. However, Dolan contends that none of the individuals in the car were wearing masks, and it remains unclear whether Ramirez was wearing one at the time of the shooting. As the situation escalated, a Vice sergeant in an unmarked car spotted the Cadillac and pursued it. The footage shows Ramirez collapsing in front of the police vehicle, prompting the sergeant to fire his weapon from inside the car. Dolan criticized the officer's actions, stating that if a civilian had shot someone from a vehicle, they would likely face legal consequences. Witnesses reportedly did not hear the sergeant identify himself as an officer before the shooting, raising further questions about the incident.
