A 7-year-old girl, Shelby Wolff, was successfully rescued after going missing from the Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway in Clark County, Washington. Shelby had been camping with her grandparents when she disappeared on Sunday evening. Despite extensive search efforts by deputies and local residents, she remained unaccounted for overnight, prompting the involvement of the sheriff’s marine patrol and major crimes unit the following morning. The search took a positive turn around 8:45 AM on Monday when a local fisherman heard a child crying for help from a steep shoreline area. He promptly called 911, leading marine patrol officers to Shelby’s location. They were able to safely retrieve her from the shoreline and transport her back to the boat dock, where she was reunited with her family. According to the sheriff’s office, it is believed that Shelby may have slipped and fallen into some bushes, which caused her to become disoriented. Fortunately, she did not sustain any serious injuries but was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene. Shelby’s sister, Cammy Wolff, later confirmed on social media that the young girl was “safe and unharmed,” expressing gratitude for the support and prayers received during the ordeal. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office extended its thanks to the volunteers and community members who participated in the search, highlighting the collaborative effort that led to Shelby’s safe return.
