A political dispute has emerged as a group of anti-Trump voters, previously aligned with former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, faces a cease and desist letter from Haley's campaign. The group, now known as Haley Voters for Harris, is accused of misleadingly using Haley's name to support Vice President Kamala Harris. Haley firmly stated, “Kamala Harris and I are total opposites on every issue,” emphasizing her endorsement of Donald Trump and condemning any association with Harris as deceptive. The political action committee, which transitioned from Haley Voters for Biden after President Biden's withdrawal from the race, aims to rally former Haley supporters who are skeptical of both Trump and Biden. With nearly $400,000 raised in the past year, the PAC has begun advertising efforts to promote Harris, coinciding with Haley's exit from the presidential race. Haley's attorney has warned the group that continued use of her name could lead to legal action involving the Department of Justice and FBI. In response, the Haley Voters for Harris group maintains that they do not claim to represent Haley's views and assert their right to advocate for Harris. They argue that many former Haley supporters share their sentiments and are disinclined to support Trump in the upcoming election. Craig Snyder, the group's director, described their name as a reflection of the sentiments of many voters, asserting that they will not be silenced in their endorsement of Harris. The ongoing conflict highlights the divisions within the Republican Party as some voters seek alternatives to Trump, with the Harris campaign welcoming those who have rejected Trump's approach during the primaries.
