Authorities in Berkeley have urged the public to steer clear of the area where Adeline Street intersects with Martin Luther King Jr. Way, following a significant police presence due to a homicide investigation. The advisory was issued around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, as police closed off Adeline Street near Fairview Street and implemented additional road closures at nearby intersections, including Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Woolsey Street. Aerial footage captured multiple police and fire units responding to the scene outside a residence on the 3200 block of Adeline Street. The investigation was prompted by reports of gunfire received by the Berkeley Police Department at approximately 12:44 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a shooting victim and initiated life-saving measures, which were later taken over by the Berkeley Fire Department. Unfortunately, the victim did not survive their injuries. As the investigation continues, police have not released any information regarding potential suspects. This incident marks the third homicide in Berkeley for the year, with this being the second involving gun violence.
