In a tragic development, the body of 35-year-old Sumit Jain was discovered on the Pen-Khopoli State Highway, two days after he and his associate, 40-year-old Aamir Khanzada, went missing. The discovery was made by a local police patil who reported the body found in bushes along the roadside on Friday afternoon. Jain and Khanzada, both real estate agents from Nerul, had been unaccounted for since the night of August 21, when they left home for a purported client meeting. Khanzada's brother, alerted to their disappearance, traveled from Pune to Nerul on Thursday morning. Utilizing the GPS in Khanzada's car, he traced its location to Khalapur, where he and the police searched for the vehicle. Upon finding the abandoned car, which bore a bullet mark and blood stains, they promptly filed a missing persons report with local authorities. Notably, both men had no prior criminal records or reported threats against them. The investigation has mobilized ten teams, including the Navi Mumbai crime branch and local police, who are actively pursuing leads. One specialized team is focused on analyzing CCTV footage to track the vehicle's movements prior to its recovery at a Food Mall on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. While Jain's body has been identified, Khanzada remains missing, prompting ongoing efforts by law enforcement to uncover the circumstances surrounding their disappearance.
