Boring Company Faces Trespassing Issues at Las Vegas Loop

In the United States, the Boring Company, founded by Elon Musk, has faced significant challenges related to unauthorized access to its underground transportation system known as the Loop. Since its inception in June 2021, the Loop, which operates beneath the Las Vegas Convention Center, has transported over 2 million passengers. However, reports show that since 2022, there have been at least 67 incidents of trespassing, including unauthorized individuals and vehicles entering the tunnel system. These violations have caused disruption, necessitating the intervention of staff technicians to remove trespassers, which affects the smooth functioning of the Loop. In one alarming incident, two individuals were discovered sleeping in one of the tunnel stations. In response to these incidents, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, in partnership with the Boring Company, has deployed a license plate reading system designed to prevent unauthorized vehicle access by automatically closing tunnel gates when unrecognized plates are detected. This measure aims to enhance security and reduce the frequency of these incidents. Despite the trespassing issues, the Boring Company continues to aim for expansion, seeking approvals to develop an additional 68 miles of tunnels across Las Vegas, including a proposed connection to the airport.
