- Kirsty Gallacher quits TV job after tumour diagnosis.
- Diagnosis forces her to step down from her role on GB News.
- Her health condition leads to a career change.
Kirsty Gallacher, the 38-year-old television presenter, has expressed hope that her benign acoustic neuroma, diagnosed in the summer of 2021, may shrink on its own. In a recent interview with the Daily Star, Gallacher shared that her condition, which affects the inner canal of her right ear, has not worsened, allowing her to postpone treatment for the time being. She noted, "I can put off treatment. Eventually, I may need treatment to shrink it but with these things, you never know it could shrink itself!" Despite the challenges posed by the tumour, including compromised hearing and low-level tinnitus, Gallacher has adapted to her situation. The tinnitus, which can disrupt her sleep, is exacerbated by the early morning hours required for her previous role at GB News. This condition ultimately led to her departure from the network in late 2021, as she struggled to manage the symptoms alongside her professional commitments. Gallacher's journey has also included personal transformations following her divorce from rugby star Paul Sampson in 2015. While she dedicated time to fitness, she admitted that her attempts to lift heavier weights resulted in a physique that "didn't suit her." This candid reflection highlights her ongoing journey of self-acceptance and health management. As she navigates her health challenges, Gallacher remains in close contact with her medical team, maintaining a positive outlook on her condition and the possibility of recovery.
