PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The excitement of football season is set to kick off with the annual Kickoff and Rib Festival at Acrisure Stadium, scheduled for August 29 to September 2, 2024. Presented by I.C. Light, the festival promises a vibrant mix of football, free concerts, and delicious food, marking a festive start to the season. The festival will commence on Thursday, August 29, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring the Beats & BBQ Showdown hosted by DJ Petey C at 7 p.m. This interactive event will showcase top DJs, dancers, and musicians, setting the tone for the festivities. The following day, Friday, August 30, will see the festival open at noon and run until 11 p.m., with local band The Clarks performing at 9 p.m. The weekend will continue with activities on Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1, both days starting at noon and concluding at 11 p.m. Country music star George Birge is set to perform on Saturday night at 9 p.m. The festival will conclude on Monday, September 2, with a lineup of musical acts including the Jimmy Adler Band, House of Soul Band, and Billy Price, wrapping up the event at 9 p.m. In addition to the festival, sports fans can look forward to the Pitt Panthers facing Kent State on August 31, and a Steelers 5K Run & Walk on September 2, starting at 8 a.m., adding to the excitement of the holiday weekend.
