In the United Kingdom, a remarkable display celebrating memorable moments from 2024 has been launched at Pret A Manger. Among these installations is a tribute to Jude Bellingham's stunning bicycle kick goal against Slovakia during the Euro 2024 tournament. This display was created at the New Street location in Birmingham, close to the player’s hometown of Stourbridge. The edible artwork, consisting of seasonal ingredients like mince pies and gingerbread, was crafted by prop artist Andy Billett. The initiative is part of Pret's campaign to highlight joyous moments experienced by the nation throughout the year. The display comes amid a series of celebratory installations aiming to resonate with customers and evoke a sense of community and joy. In addition to the tribute to Bellingham, Pret A Manger is also celebrating other significant achievements, such as Sir David Attenborough's 70-year television career at their Carnaby Street branch in London and Keely Hodgkinson's Olympic gold in the 800 meters at a shop in Manchester. Katherine Bagshawe, the UK's Food & Coffee Director at Pret, stated that these displays reflect the joyful moments chosen by the public. She emphasized that many respondents associate happiness with their favorite foods, making the edible tribute a fitting celebration. In honor of not only sporting achievements but also local unsung heroes, Pret A Manger is unveiling installations dedicated to individuals who've positively impacted their communities. Elizabeth Fearon, a 65-year-old volunteer at the Toxteth Women's Centre, will be honored at the Paradise Street shop in Liverpool. Meanwhile, the North Bridge shop in Edinburgh will celebrate Shikha Ahuja, a 54-year-old senior welfare worker. This twofold approach highlights the essence of joy during the festive season while recognizing vital figures in local communities. As the year progresses, a significant portion of Britons anticipates experiencing even more moments of joy, primarily due to plans for increased travel and social interactions. This enthusiasm is reflected by the findings that noted the average Brit experienced about four joyful moments each month throughout 2024. The food and coffee chain is encouraging customers to engage with their celebrations by sharing photos of the Christmas window displays on social media, showing how integral these initiatives are to the community spirit during the festive season.
