Fairfield police apprehended a 23-year-old man on Sunday in connection with the theft of sports memorabilia, which he allegedly attempted to sell online. The incident began when an employee from a local sports memorabilia store contacted authorities at 2:29 p.m., reporting that several items, claimed to be lost by a shipping company, were being offered for sale on a social media platform. The store employee had arranged a meeting with the seller to purchase some of the memorabilia. Upon the seller's arrival at the designated location, the employee notified the police, who quickly responded to the scene. Officers observed multiple "lost" items visible inside the seller's vehicle, prompting further investigation. The suspect was cooperative with law enforcement and consented to a search of his residence. During this search, police recovered additional stolen memorabilia. The total estimated value of the items was reported to be around $12,000, which was subsequently documented and returned to the store employee. Following the recovery of the stolen goods, police arrested the seller and transported him to Solano County Jail. The case highlights ongoing issues related to the theft and resale of valuable collectibles, prompting law enforcement to remain vigilant in monitoring online marketplaces for similar activities.
