Texas leads mass deportation efforts under Governor Abbott

In the last few months, Texas law enforcement, including the Texas Department of Public Safety and the National Guard, have intensified their efforts on the U.S.-Mexico border through a strategic initiative known as Operation Lone Star. This extensive campaign has already resulted in the apprehension of more than 529,500 illegal border crossers, alongside over 49,400 criminal arrests, which encompass more than 42,500 felony charges. Among those detained are individuals categorized as Special Interest Aliens, including men from countries of foreign concern such as Afghanistan and Iran, necessitating heightened vigilance among border officials. Additionally, soldiers stationed at Fort Cavazos have been implicated in human smuggling operations, showcasing the complex landscape of border security intersected with military personnel involvement. Continuous operations not only aim to secure the border but also to combat crime associated with drug trafficking and illegal immigration, heightening concerns regarding national security.
