The annual Jewellery & Gem World Hong Kong trade fair is set to take place soon, reaffirming Hong Kong's status as a global hub for the jewelry industry. In 2023, the event attracted nearly 54,000 buyers from 142 countries, showcasing the participation of 3,422 exhibitors from 44 nations. This year, organizers anticipate similar numbers, with over 3,000 exhibitors expected to present their offerings across two venues: AsiaWorld-Expo and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The fair features 20 product-specific areas and 21 country pavilions, making it a unique marketplace for jewelry professionals. Notably, the event will emphasize educational programs, addressing a gap from previous years. Esteemed speakers from major companies like De Beers and Mikimoto will participate, focusing on sustainability, particularly in the pearl trade. A significant highlight of this year's fair is the Sustainability Awards 2024, which aims to recognize organizations that have made measurable contributions to environmental stewardship and inclusivity. Winners and finalists will engage in a panel series to share insights on sustainability practices within the industry. Hong Kong's advantageous business environment, characterized by its duty-free status and low tax rates, further enhances the fair's appeal. The event serves as a vital platform for international buyers and exhibitors, facilitating connections and fostering growth in the jewelry sector.
