Story

HAIKOU, CHINA - In a bid to promote its rich tourism and cultural offerings, Hainan Province has announced the results of its global “Hainan Tourism & Cultural Excellence Top 10” selection event, which garnered significant media attention and international support. The initiative, launched in spring 2024 by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports, highlighted popular destinations such as Boundary Island in Ling Shui, Yalong Bay in Sanya, and Daner Zhuiguang Station in Danzhou. The selection process involved six months of recommendations and voting, culminating in a list that showcases Hainan's diverse attractions. The top ten include not only stunning natural sites but also cultural experiences, such as the annual China International Consumer Products Expo and the Nanhai Museum, which celebrates the ancient Maritime Silk Road. Local culinary delights, including Wenchang Chicken and Hainan Rice Noodles, further enhance the province's appeal. Hainan, recognized as China’s largest free trade port and its only tropical island province, boasts a wealth of natural beauty with 68 unique bays and extensive tropical rainforests. The province's cultural heritage spans over 3,000 years, making it a unique destination for both domestic and international tourists. With visa-free entry for visitors from 59 countries and efficient transportation options, including a coastal scenic highway and high-speed rail, Hainan is poised to attract a growing number of travelers seeking both adventure and cultural enrichment.
