Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, announced the upcoming inauguration of the Swargate Metro Station alongside the bhoomi pujan for the Swargate-Katraj route. This event is significant as it marks the completion of phase one of the Pune Metro project. Currently, the Vanaz to Ramwadi route is fully operational, while the route from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Swargate is nearly complete, pending final technical work and permissions for the underground stretch from Civil Court to Swargate. The Civil Court to Swargate route includes three stations: Kasba Peth, Mandai, and Swargate, with specific distances between them. The completion of this route is crucial for enhancing public transport in Pune, as it will provide better connectivity for commuters. Mohol emphasized the positive response from the public regarding the operational Vanaz to Ramwadi route, indicating a growing acceptance of the metro system. In addition to the inauguration, efforts are underway to secure approvals for further expansions, including the Vanaz to Chandani Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi stretches.
