Rural education program gains support in Appalachian Kentucky

In 2023, Partners for Rural Impact (PRI) received significant funding to enhance educational access in rural areas of the United States, particularly in Kentucky. With a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education and additional support from the Ballmer Group and Blue Meridian Partners, PRI is set to expand its initiatives to other regions, including Texas and Missouri. The organization recognizes that rural communities often struggle with fewer institutional resources, making it essential to utilize available funds effectively. The Ballmer Group has committed $12.5 million over five years to support these efforts, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in improving educational outcomes. As part of its strategy, PRI plans to identify two more regions to implement its model, which aims to serve as a proof of concept for enhancing education in rural America.
