- This move is part of JPMorgan's strategy to strengthen its capital markets team and enhance its ECM capabilities.
JPMorgan has appointed Bauer as co-head of its Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Americas team, working alongside Keith Canton. Bauer brings extensive experience, having spent six years at KKR as head of ECM and over a decade at Goldman Sachs. His new role at JPMorgan will be based in New York, where he will report to Kevin Foley, the global head of capital markets. This strategic move comes as JPMorgan continues to strengthen its ECM capabilities, having advised on approximately $2.3 billion in IPOs this year alone. The hiring of Bauer is part of a broader effort by JPMorgan to enhance its capital markets team, which has seen other recent additions, including Sumit Mukherjee from Bank of America and Tegh Kapur from Morgan Stanley. These hires reflect the firm’s commitment to expanding its ECM services and improving market intelligence and venture capital coverage. Bauer's departure from KKR marks a significant transition for the firm, where Craig Lee will take over his responsibilities as head of ECM and co-invest. KKR has established a robust capital markets group since its launch in 2007, raising over $1.6 trillion in debt and equity financing for its clients. The firm expressed confidence in its remaining team to capitalize on future opportunities in the market. Overall, this recruitment signals JPMorgan's ambition to bolster its position in the competitive ECM landscape, leveraging Bauer's expertise to navigate the evolving market dynamics and enhance its service offerings to clients.
