Woman arrested for bomb threat at Dallas Love Field Airport

On Tuesday evening, a 67-year-old woman named Rebecca Phillips created a disturbance at Southwest Airlines' Gate 10. The Dallas Police Department received a call regarding the situation around 5:45 p.m., when Phillips, who was reportedly intoxicated, announced that she had a bomb in her bag while being escorted off a flight to Orlando. The threat prompted immediate actions from law enforcement and airport security personnel. To ensure public safety, police evacuated the plane along with its crew and passengers and directed them to a secure area within the terminal. In addition to evacuating Gate 10, airport staff closed nearby locations including the Cool River Cafe and AV8 Bar. The swift response from the Dallas Police Department included diverting flights at Gates 8 and 12, leading to a delay of two to three hours for operations at the airport. While Phillips claimed there was a bomb in her bag, law enforcement conducted a thorough investigation which included running her bag through an X-ray machine and performing a detailed search. The bag was ultimately cleared, with no explosives found. Phillips was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat, classified as a third-degree felony. She was held at the Dallas County Jail on a bond amount of $2,500 following her arrest. Thankfully, no injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
