In 2025, Dyson announced the upcoming launch of its skinniest vacuum, the PencilVac, scheduled to arrive in the US and UK in 2026. This innovative handheld vacuum measures only 38mm in diameter, making it the lightest cordless cleaner produced by the company to date, weighing less than 4lbs. It features advanced technology, including a 28mm Hyperdymium motor that can spin at an impressive 140,000 RPM to generate 55AW of suction power. The vacuum also utilizes a dual-stage filtration system, which effectively captures 99.99% of particles that are as minute as 0.3 microns, ensuring cleaner air in the household. The PencilVac embraces Dyson's latest design enhancements. It boasts a unique cleaner head, named Fluffycones, which incorporates four counter-rotating brush bars to prevent hair tangling and effectively push dirt out toward skirting boards. The technology in the PencilVac is seen as an evolution of the dual-brush design previously introduced in the Omni-glide model launched in 2021. Moreover, it is the first model from Dyson to include MyDyson app connectivity, allowing users to monitor battery status, receive filter reminders, and follow maintenance steps directly from their phones. In addition to its technical features, the design of the PencilVac focuses on usability. It has a small LCD display for instant feedback, green LED lights for illuminating the cleaning area, and a swappable battery designed to provide 30 minutes of cleaning on a low power setting. For added convenience, the vacuum's dust bin has been engineered to hold more debris despite its compact size, and it employs a no-touch emptying mechanism that efficiently releases dust while cleaning the inside of the container. Charging this innovative device is facilitated by a magnetic floor dock, ensuring quick accessibility for users. Despite its many features, it’s important to note that the PencilVac, like the Omni-glide before it, is specifically designed for hard floor surfaces and is not suitable for carpets. Additionally, it does not convert into a handheld unit, which has been a feature in some of Dyson's earlier models. There has been no announcement regarding the pricing of the PencilVac, which leaves potential customers curious as they await its market arrival in the coming year.
