A Los Angeles jury has convicted Freddie Trone, 42, of orchestrating the murder of rapper PnB Rock, who was shot dead in September 2022. Trone was found guilty of multiple charges, including murder, two counts of second-degree robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery. The incident occurred at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant, where PnB Rock was dining with his girlfriend and their young child when a masked teenager, allegedly acting on Trone's orders, demanded the rapper's jewelry and opened fire. During the trial, prosecutors argued that Trone had coordinated the attack, motivated by the desire to steal approximately half a million dollars worth of jewelry. In contrast, Trone's defense claimed that he was merely an accessory after the fact. The teenager involved, now 19, has also been charged with murder and robbery but has not yet been deemed competent to stand trial. Both Trone and the teen are set to be sentenced on August 27. District Attorney George Gascón expressed relief at the verdict, stating that justice has been served for PnB Rock's family, who have suffered greatly from the violence. He emphasized the commitment of his office to pursue justice for community safety. PnB Rock's girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, shared her trauma on social media, highlighting the emotional toll of the incident and the loss of her partner. Following PnB Rock's death, tributes poured in from fellow artists, including Drake, who honored the rapper's legacy. PnB Rock, born in Philadelphia in 1991, was known for his albums "Catch These Vibes" and "Trapstar Turnt PopStar," with his final song released just days before the tragic event.
