Story

In a harrowing incident earlier this month, the daughter of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, Hannah Hunt, 28, and her sister Louise, 26, were fatally injured by crossbow bolts in their family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire. An inquest at Hertfordshire Coroner’s Court revealed that their mother, Carol, also succumbed to stab wounds during the attack. The court heard that Hannah sent a desperate text urging a recipient to call emergency services after being shot, indicating that she had been “tied up” at the residence. When police arrived at the scene shortly after 7 PM on July 9, they found Hannah alive at the doorway with a crossbow bolt lodged in her chest. She managed to inform the police that she and her family had been attacked, providing their address before the call was abruptly cut off. The inquest has been adjourned to allow for any potential criminal proceedings to unfold. John Hunt, alongside his surviving daughter Amy, expressed profound grief over the loss of their family members, stating that the devastation they are experiencing is beyond words. In a heartfelt tribute shared with Sky Sports Racing viewers, Mr. Hunt described his surviving daughter as “magnificently inspirational” and acknowledged the overwhelming support they have received from the community. He emphasized the importance of these messages, likening them to “reassuring hugs” during this unimaginably difficult time.
