In a survey published on October 29, 2024, Aerotek gathered insights from 1,677 job seekers across diverse industries in the United States. Conducted between August 29 and September 6, the survey aimed to understand the candidates’ perceptions of the job market amid the uncertainty caused by the upcoming presidential election. The findings revealed a notable degree of optimism, with nearly 46 percent stating an increased likelihood of exploring new opportunities in 2025 compared to 2024. However, significant challenges persist as the survey also highlighted that 70 percent of respondents reported no pay raises in the past year, marking an increase from 56 percent in fall 2023. Additionally, many candidates anticipated submitting dozens of applications before securing job offers. The sentiment about the potential impact of the election on their careers was mixed; about 45 percent indicated they believe it would have some effect, while nearly 37 percent remained uncertain. Employers are advised to streamline their hiring processes to improve the candidate experience, as job seekers expressed frustration over lengthy application procedures. Quick communication is essential, with 70 percent expecting feedback in a week and 93 percent within three weeks. Enhancing the employee value proposition, especially in terms of pay, job security, and career advancement, remains critical to attracting top talent in this competitive landscape.
