In the early hours of Saturday morning, a 36-year-old man was caught attempting to steal from D&W Builders in Alberton, Adelaide. After the alarm was triggered, police arrived but initially could not locate the suspect. CCTV footage later revealed the man jumping from a roof onto the tray of a truck, injuring himself in the process. He was seen crawling away with his pants falling down before being apprehended by officers nearby. The intruder had allegedly broken into the construction company by smashing a window and was found in possession of various tools, including screwdrivers and gloves, along with multiple sets of keys believed to be stolen. Earlier that night, he was also suspected of vandalizing another nearby business by kicking in a glass door. D&W Builders owner Donald Fry received an alert from his alarm company and checked the security cameras, confirming the break-in. Interestingly, despite the theft, Fry noted that cash left on the desk remained untouched, indicating a targeted theft rather than a random act of vandalism. The man was arrested and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of a suspected broken leg. Police are expected to lay charges against him for the series of offenses committed that night, highlighting the ongoing issue of property crime in the area.
