India's rise as a global hub for data centres is unstoppable

In a recent address at the Thuglak 55th-year anniversary program in Chennai, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal underscored India's substantial potential to emerge as a global hub for data centres. He pointed out that the government has been making concerted efforts to bolster the country's infrastructure and attract foreign investments in the technology sector. Specifically, Goyal noted that the establishment of India's interconnected power grid within three years by the Union Government has effectively removed cost disparities between the northern and southern regions of the country. The minister highlighted that India has become increasingly appealing to international businesses due to its capacity to offer green and reliable energy solutions. As a result, sectors such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and other technology-driven ventures are witnessing heightened interest from global investors. Goyal stated, "No other country has such a large interconnected grid. This is why international businesses are keen to invest in India, fostering job creation and economic growth." During his keynote address titled "India’s Rise and the Challenges it Faces," Goyal attributed the country's progress to a structured, outcome-focused approach identified by the 5Ds: Democracy, Demographic Dividend, Diversity, Demand, and Dependability. He articulated that these guiding principles have played a vital role in the development across six significant domains: global leadership; economic growth, manufacturing, and investments; innovation and entrepreneurship; infrastructure development; promotion of global soft power; and initiatives led by women. Goyal emphasized the Indian government’s commitment to welfare programs that are aligned with sustainable development goals. These initiatives are aimed at ensuring universal access to essential elements such as food, housing, healthcare, education, digital connectivity, piped water, and energy-efficient systems. He acknowledged the challenges present but remained optimistic about the nation's resilience in overcoming these issues. Goyal asserted the need for inclusive growth to address confrontations that test the unity, security, and aspirations of the nation. He underlined that the resilience demonstrated during India's rise will guide the country through ongoing challenges and obstacles. Furthermore, he underscored the government's dedication to accountability, explaining that ministers and bureaucrats are meticulously trained to respond to the public's needs. Concluding his remarks, Goyal referenced the Prime Minister's 11 resolutions presented during the 75th Anniversary of the Indian Constitution's adoption, which lay the groundwork for constructing a developed India.
