Story

Prague – The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced plans to allocate 120 million crowns annually from 2025 to 2027 for the deployment of Czech experts to civilian structures within the European Union and international organizations, as well as for election observation missions. This funding mirrors the current three-year budget and was confirmed in a government-approved document made available to the Czech News Agency (CTK). The Ministry highlighted that ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine underscores the persistent instability and conflicts outside the EU, which pose security risks. The document emphasizes the growing need for expert deployment in light of new initiatives by the EU, NATO, OSCE, and UN, including a new EU civil mission in Armenia and Moldova. The Ministry aims to bolster the resilience of vulnerable countries, combat illegal migration, and stabilize post-conflict regions through these expert missions. Czech representation in international organizations is reportedly low, prompting the need for increased expert deployment. The Ministry noted that these experts serve as valuable information sources for the Czech Republic's representation in international forums. For the current year, around 75 Czech experts are expected to be deployed to various missions, with an additional 150 for election observation, all funded by the allocated 120 million crowns. Looking ahead, the Ministry plans to conduct a review and strategic discussion regarding budget utilization and potential increases before the 2026 budget debate, ensuring that the Czech Republic remains actively engaged in international efforts.
