With 'No Name,' Jack White returns to his rock roots

Jack White's sixth solo album was unexpectedly released on July 19, 2023, through his label, Third Man Records, without prior announcement. Customers at his stores in London, Nashville, and Detroit received a mysterious white vinyl sleeve labeled "No Name" with their purchases. Upon playing the record, they discovered it was his latest work, which was later leaked online. The album became available in digital and physical formats on August 2 and September 15, respectively. This release marks a return to White's garage blues-punk roots, contrasting with his previous, more produced works. The album features 13 self-produced tracks, with nine created in a trio format of guitar, bass, and drums. Notably, his daughter Scarlett White plays bass on one track, while his wife Olivia Jean contributes on drums for another. The album's raw sound and straightforward approach reflect a departure from the dense and eclectic style of his earlier 2022 albums, "Fear of the Dawn" and "Entering Heaven Alive."
