San Francisco leads the way in embracing new transportation technology

On December 13, 2024, in Kariya, Japan, FPT Corporation and DENSO Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing innovations in software-defined vehicles (SDVs). This agreement is part of a strategic collaboration that focuses on developing software solutions for next-generation SDVs, particularly in the mass production of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). With this partnership, both companies seek to establish a fast, high-quality global development framework targeting expansion by the end of 2027. FPT brings significant experience in the automotive sector, supported by a dedicated team of approximately 5,000 automotive software engineers and experts. This collaboration reinforces their commitment to the future of mobility, which heavily relies on software and connectivity. Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT, emphasized the importance of co-creating smarter, safer, and more connected vehicles through this collaboration. The two firms have a history dating back to 2017 when they first collaborated on IT services and internal systems for DENSO Japan, later extending their efforts to DENSO US. They have successfully orchestrated the digital transformation of DENSO’s factory in Vietnam, creating a benchmark for innovation that has been adapted across various factories in Asia. This partnership signifies a strong investment in the technological advancement of the automotive industry, particularly as it transitions towards an increasingly software-driven future. As part of their agreement, the companies will set up an offshore development center dedicated to human resource development and training, which will enhance their collaborative efforts. FPT is committed to providing premier AI engineers and resources, while DENSO will focus on creating a joint development plan and offering training platforms along with personnel exchanges to ensure effective collaboration. Overall, the MOU marks a significant commitment from both entities to foster innovation in software-defined vehicles and signifies a future-oriented approach towards achieving a tech-driven automotive industry with sustainable practices.
