GRAND PRAIRIE — The North Texas community is mourning the loss of the Rosales family, who were tragically killed in a street-racing-related crash on Saturday. A memorial has been established at the Fuel Stop gas station on S. Beltline Road, where the incident occurred. According to police, two drivers were racing when one collided with the Rosales family's vehicle, causing it to flip and ignite. Parents Jessie and Lorena Rosales, along with their children, 13-year-old Stephanie and 6-year-old Angel, died at the scene. Their 16-year-old son, Anthony, remains hospitalized with serious injuries. Lili Trujillo Puckett, founder of the nonprofit organization Street Racing Kills, expressed her devastation over the incident, highlighting her decade-long efforts to educate the public and advocate for legislative changes to combat street racing. She emphasized the need for continued awareness and prevention measures to avoid similar tragedies in the future. Authorities have noted a rise in street racing incidents across North Texas, prompting local police departments, such as Arlington PD, to establish special traffic units aimed at curbing speeding and reckless driving. Police Chief Crocker stated that even minor speeding violations will be addressed to send a clear message against such dangerous behavior. In response to the growing concern, Texas State Rep. Chris Turner has supported legislation to enhance penalties for street racing. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Anthony Morales has been arrested as a suspect in the crash, having fled the scene shortly after the incident. The Rosales siblings were set to begin their first day of school in Garland ISD on Monday, a poignant reminder of the family's tragic loss.
