Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Jitu Patwari has expressed grave concerns regarding the alarming reports of child trafficking in Maharashtra, particularly affecting tribal families from the Khandwa district. In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Patwari highlighted that children are being sold for as little as Rs 25,000 in the Kanchanwadi area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He attributed this tragic situation to the extreme poverty faced by these families, who have migrated in search of work but are forced to sell their children as a means of survival. Patwari's letter emphasized that the sale of children has become a disturbing tradition among these tribal communities, who refer to it in euphemistic terms rather than acknowledging the grim reality of trafficking. He criticized the Madhya Pradesh government for failing to provide adequate support to these vulnerable populations, claiming that corruption has hindered the effective implementation of welfare schemes designed to assist the poor. During a separate event, Patwari commemorated freedom fighters while reflecting on the socio-economic challenges facing the nation today, including inflation and unemployment. He lamented the government's inability to address these pressing issues, citing numerous corruption scandals that have marred the integrity of public examinations and jeopardized the future of the youth. Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh also spoke at the event, condemning the growing economic inequality in India and calling for policies that prioritize the welfare of the impoverished. The gathering honored various Congress leaders and journalists for their contributions to society, underscoring the party's commitment to social justice and accountability.
