Delta Force: Hawk Ops open beta launches December 5 for PC

Tencent Holdings is launching the global open beta for Delta Force: Hawk Ops, a tactical first-person shooter, on December 5, 2024, specifically for PC users. This iteration of the Delta Force franchise, developed by Tencent's Timi Studio Group, represents a revival of the series that initially debuted in 1998. This free-to-play game is positioned to compete with major titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield, featuring gameplay modes designed to attract an audience familiar with popular FPS games. The open beta will introduce two main game modes: Havoc Warfare, a multiplayer experience for up to 32 players, and Hazard Operations, which involves squads in a player-versus-player versus environment format. Alongside these modes, players can expect new maps, operators, weapons, and vehicles, all part of the first season, named Genesis. While players will have access to paid content such as Battle Passes and cosmetic modifications, Tencent is committing to a fair gaming experience by avoiding any pay-to-win mechanics. Although the beta release will not include the single-player campaign, which is inspired by Black Hawk Down, Tencent has assured players that future updates will expand the game with additional content based on player feedback. Furthermore, performance enhancements, anti-cheat systems, and controller support improvements are planned post-launch. The game will be available on multiple platforms, with console and mobile versions anticipated to follow in early 2025. This open beta marks a significant step for Tencent, revealing its strategy to penetrate the competitive gaming market and rejuvenate a nostalgic franchise that had seen varied success prior to NovaLogic's closure in 2016.
