On April 6, 2025, a significant accident occurred on the BR-101 highway near Palhoça in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. A tanker truck loaded with ethanol overturned and subsequently exploded, causing massive flames that engulfed at least 27 vehicles, including 24 cars and three large trucks. Emergency services responded promptly, with around 36 firefighters and various medical teams on site to address the aftermath.
