In 2023, Canada saw 19,700 new French-speaking permanent residents outside Quebec, surpassing set admission targets. This growth highlights Canada's appeal to Francophones globally and aligns with ambitions to further support Francophone communities. Efforts include a new policy on Francophone Immigration, introduced in January 2024, and a 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan aimed at gradually increasing French-speaking admissions. The government is committed to enhancing the demographic weight of Francophone minority communities, with set targets reaching up to 10% by 2027. Celebrating the diversity that newcomers bring, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Marc Miller, underlined the importance of preserving the Francophone heritage as Canada seeks to integrate these newcomers into its cultural fabric.
