Fairfield police have made an arrest nearly four months after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run incident. The tragic event occurred on April 23, around 1 a.m., when officers responded to reports of a woman lying in the roadway at the intersection of Air Base Parkway and Wiley Lane. Upon arrival, they discovered that the woman had been struck by a vehicle and, despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been disclosed by authorities. Following the incident, police launched an investigation that led them to a suspect vehicle located at a residence in Vacaville the day after the accident. Over the ensuing months, investigators gathered sufficient evidence to secure an arrest warrant for the individual believed to be responsible for the fatal hit-and-run. On Thursday, police arrested 21-year-old Jaered Diago of Vacaville, who has been charged with felony hit-and-run. He was subsequently booked into the Solano County Jail. While the arrest marks a significant development in the case, authorities have not provided details regarding when Diago is expected to appear in court. The investigation continues as police work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the community remains in mourning for the victim whose life was tragically cut short.
