GREENE COUNTY, Pa. – Authorities have apprehended 43-year-old Jimmy Butterfield, a fugitive who had been evading capture for several weeks. Greene County Regional Police Chief William DeForte confirmed Butterfield's arrest on Saturday, following an extensive investigation that began with a search warrant executed at his home on August 2. Butterfield was wanted in connection with multiple criminal activities, including operating a chop shop and trafficking illegal motorcycles and parts. The investigation revealed that Butterfield was also involved in the distribution of mid-level narcotics, specifically crystal meth, which police believe was sourced from Mexican drug cartels. During the search of his residence, officers discovered over a pound of pharmaceutical-grade crystal meth, an illegal sawed-off shotgun, an assault rifle, and several stolen motorcycles, along with various drug paraphernalia and equipment used for weighing and packaging narcotics. Butterfield fled the scene during the execution of the search warrant and remained at large until his recent capture. The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office played a crucial role in his apprehension, utilizing public informants to locate him. Chief DeForte noted that Butterfield is a convicted felon, which prohibits him from possessing firearms, further complicating his legal situation as he faces multiple charges stemming from his criminal activities.
