Story

Mumbai's Navghar police made a significant drug bust on Wednesday during their Independence Day patrols, intercepting a suspicious Bolero car at the Airoli Toll Naka. The operation was part of a broader initiative to ensure safety and order during the national celebrations, with police checkpoints established across the area since Monday. The incident unfolded early Wednesday when officers at the southbound Airoli Toll Naka signaled a Suzuki Bolero to stop for inspection. As the vehicle came to a halt, two individuals fled the scene, while the driver attempted to escape but was apprehended by the police. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Kalim Salim Choudhari from Kurla, was taken into custody. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered several kilograms of Mephedrone (MD), a synthetic drug with an estimated street value of Rs. 3 crore. Following the seizure, Choudhari was remanded to police custody for further questioning. Authorities are now focused on identifying his accomplices, tracing the source of the drugs, and determining their intended use. The Navghar police have confirmed the seizure of the Bolero and are continuing their investigation into the drug trafficking operation, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining law and order during the festive period.
