Bulgaria urges North Macedonia to meet EU obligations in dialogue

On a recent visit to Bulgaria, President Rumen Radev expressed his expectations for North Macedonia to fulfill its obligations to both Bulgaria and the European Union. He emphasized the importance of dialogue between the two nations, which he believes can enhance cultural ties and economic cooperation. Radev pointed out that the current government in North Macedonia has not moved past election rhetoric, indicating a need for a more realistic approach to their bilateral relations. Radev highlighted that the commitment of North Macedonia's leadership to Corridor 8 would serve as a significant indicator of the country's genuine European aspirations. This infrastructure project is crucial for improving connectivity in the region and fostering closer ties between the two countries. He urged the North Macedonian government to maintain a consistent policy of dialogue and understanding, as expressed by President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova during her visit. The Bulgarian President also mentioned the importance of adhering to previously concluded agreements, suggesting that the future of their relations hinges on this compliance. He expressed hope that the desire for constructive dialogue would be a lasting approach from the North Macedonian government. Radev concluded by indicating that it is time for him to make an official visit to North Macedonia, signaling a potential shift towards more active engagement between the two nations. This visit could pave the way for further discussions on cooperation and mutual obligations, ultimately benefiting both countries in their European integration efforts.
