No enemy ships detected in Black Sea or Sea of Azov

As of June 12, 2025, the Ukrainian Navy reported that there are no enemy naval vessels present in the Black Sea or the Sea of Azov. This information was shared through a post on Facebook, highlighting the current maritime situation in these strategic waters. According to operational intelligence, the only Russian naval presence in the region consists of one Kalibr missile carrier located in the Mediterranean Sea, capable of launching up to eight missiles. Throughout the day, there was significant maritime traffic reported in and out of the Kerch Strait, with five ships entering the Black Sea and two of those heading towards the Bosphorus Strait. In addition, a total of 15 ships were reported to have moved into the Sea of Azov, with six vessels arriving from the Bosphorus Strait. Despite the active movement of vessels, it is clear that there is an absence of direct confrontation or hostile naval activity from the Russian fleet in these particular seas at this moment. This development can be seen as a temporary respite in naval engagements, possibly reflecting larger strategic decisions by the Russian Navy. The potential significance of these events includes an ongoing assessment of naval capabilities and positioning, indicating that naval resources are being allocated to more distant engagements while the Black Sea and Sea of Azov remain less contested for the time being.
