This weather event follows a week of severe rainfall, with central and southern England experiencing over 250% of their average September rainfall. The Environment Agency reported that around 650 properties were flooded in regions such as Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, with flash floods affecting areas like Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire. The heavy downpours have raised concerns about infrastructure and public safety, prompting warnings from the Met Office.
