Elvis Presley’s brother, David Stanley, has paid heartfelt tribute to the legendary performer on the 55th anniversary of his first Las Vegas show. This historic event took place at the International Hotel, where Elvis captivated audiences with two nightly performances for four consecutive weeks. His return to live performing marked the beginning of a remarkable chapter in his career, leading to over 600 shows in Las Vegas over the next seven years. In a touching post on Facebook, Stanley reflected on the significance of that night, stating, “55 years ago today Elvis did his first show at the International Hotel in Las Vegas.” He expressed pride in serving as an Ambassador to the International/Westgate resort, which he affectionately refers to as “The House that Elvis Built.” Stanley reminisced about the excitement surrounding Elvis's debut, which set the stage for his 636 sold-out performances at the venue. David Stanley, who joined Elvis's entourage, known as the Memphis Mafia, at the age of 16, shared insights into their close relationship. In 1972, Elvis encouraged him to leave school and become part of his inner circle, where he served as one of the King’s bodyguards until Elvis's untimely death five years later. This bond is further explored in Stanley’s own film, "Protecting The King," which chronicles his experiences with the iconic musician.
