McGuinness, who has always felt a bond with Ireland, traveled to County Mayo, where he discovered that his great-grandmother, Bridget McGuinness, was baptized in a local parish church. This revelation links him to Biden's ancestor, Edward Blewitt, who lived nearby in Ballina. During his exploration, McGuinness learned that his great-great-grandparents, Mark McGuinness and Winifred Malloy, resided close to the Blewitt family. This connection is particularly poignant as President Biden visited County Mayo last year, where he received a brick from his ancestral home, believed to be over 200 years old. Biden also noted a historical record from 1828 detailing payments made to Blewitt for supplying bricks for St. Muredach's Cathedral. Reflecting on his journey, McGuinness expressed a deep spiritual connection to the land, stating that his ancestors might have played on the same beaches he visited.
