Actress Melissa Joan Hart, known for her iconic roles in ‘90s television series such as “Clarissa Explains It All” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” has opened up about the financial responsibilities she shouldered as a child actor. Hart, who began her career at the age of 15, revealed that her earnings from acting were primarily used to support her family, which included seven siblings. This financial burden became particularly significant following her parents' separation, prompting the family to relocate to New York City. In a recent podcast episode, Hart shared her experiences of growing up in a large family, often taking on the role of caregiver. She recounted a specific instance when her mother left her in charge of her younger siblings while she went on vacation. At the time, Hart was nearly 18 and responsible for a 6-month-old, a 7-year-old, a 9-year-old, a 13-year-old, and a 15-year-old. “I don’t remember how I did it,” she admitted, highlighting the trust her mother placed in her abilities. Reflecting on these formative years, Hart expressed that the experience of caring for her siblings made her a better mother herself. “I think I can get through anything,” she stated, emphasizing the resilience she developed through her responsibilities. In addition to her early successes, Hart continues to act, with recent projects including the telefilms “Dirty Little Secret” (2022) and “Would You Kill for Me? The Mary Bailey Story” (2023), as well as her latest film, “The Bad Guardian,” which premiered on Lifetime earlier this year.
