In a troubling incident in the Handsworth area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, three children required surgery after being shot with an air rifle. The shooting occurred on Wednesday afternoon, injuring six individuals, including five children. Police received reports of the incident at Richmond Park Avenue around 2:23 PM, leading to the discovery of the injured victims, among them a 7-year-old girl and a 62-year-old woman. According to a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police, the victims included four boys aged 7, 11, 13, and 15. The severity of their injuries necessitated hospital operations to remove pellets from three of the children. The police swiftly responded to the situation, resulting in the arrest of five suspects linked to the shooting. The arrested individuals include a 15-year-old girl, two 15-year-old boys, and two men aged 18. They face charges related to possession of a firearm and grievous bodily harm (GBH).
