He noted that historically, such individuals would have been detained, but recent policy changes have allowed them to roam freely, exacerbating the violence in communities like Aurora. In response to the growing crisis, the Aurora Police Department has assigned detectives to a special task force aimed at addressing violent crimes affecting the migrant community.
