Daniel Barenboim's Emotional Return to Proms

Daniel Barenboim, the celebrated pianist and conductor, made his London debut at the tender age of 13 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on January 17, 1956. Over the years, he has built a remarkable career, earning numerous accolades for his contributions to music and global humanitarian efforts. A former resident and frequent visitor to the UK, Barenboim has expressed a deep affection for the country, which he has often highlighted in his work, including his role as a BBC Reith lecturer. Recently, Barenboim conducted the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, an ensemble he co-founded 25 years ago with Palestinian-American philosopher Edward Said.
